On Wednesday we read the book "The Quiltmaker's Gift". It is about a quiltmaker who only gives her quilts to the poor and needy. A greedy king wants one too, but has to make some changes in his life before he can have one. It is a wonderful story and each page is packed with beautiful illustrations.
We started working on our own crowns next. Each child chose the type of crown that they wanted and we traced it onto their cardboard. They each attempted to cut them out (some with some creative scissoring techniques) but the cardboard was so tough that gripping the scissors was soon hurting their hands, so I helped them finish up. We went out back to spray paint them and while they dried we ate snacks and played a game of "King/Queen Says" ("Simon Says" in peasant terms!).
