G is for Groundhog

Miss Stella returned to preschool Wednesday with a clean bill of health. She was very excited to sit in between Zane and Will. They were not so excited with her octopus hands! LOL. I got a good chuckle watching her try to flirt with the boys. Miss Ella visited us for preschool too. We really missed her. She stood up first thing and said she had an announcement: Who missed me? Course everyone said they missed her, except Stella who said only her brain missed Ella. We read a cute book about a restless groundhog who kept waking up instead of hibernating. He predicted more winter because he was so tired. The kids enjoyed a 4 minute movie on woodchucks, aka groundhogs, aka whistle pigs. The kids each took a turn predicting more winter or spring if they saw a shadow when crawling out from under a chair.

For the craft we made cute little groundhogs out of cups, paper, stickers, sticks, and felt. Then we played tie up the groundhog. Just kidding. We ate some groundhogs for snack. They were sort of yucky. No really, the kids loved the cookie and pudding! They did not like the coconut grass. Fun times!!!

G is Sneaky

We kicked off the week with a grrrreat time. We missed Stella, she was home with a runny nose. Will led us in the pledge of alligence. I LOVE hearing our kids recite the pledge. We talked about the letter G/g. G is a pretty crazy letter that makes TWO, count it: one, two, sounds. One of the sounds G makes is exactly the same sound that J makes (juh). Zane was the first one to think of a juh, word; giraffe. Then we talked about the easier sound, guh, like garbage. Will thought of the first guh word.

We completed two worksheets, one on finding different objects that started with juh or guh. The other worksheet helped the kids practice writing capital and lowercase G. I focused on teaching the kids about the color gold. The kids painted lovely goldfish with sparkly gold paint and covering the fish with gold glitter.

Our snack included gold whales and graham cracker bears. The weather was super nice so we snacked outside. We all enjoyed a rousing game of duck, duck, goose.

January 18th Field Trip

On Wednesday, January 18th we met up with another preschool group for a tour of Pizza Hut. Nineteen children and a handful of moms were eager to see just how they make all those yummy pizzas.

We made the front page of the local paper! You can see most of our kids in the picture. One decided the giant fridge was not for her. Who's missing?

A second picture inside the paper showed the kids anxiously watching the pizza slowly roll into the oven on a giant conveyer belt. Did you know it takes 10 minutes for the pizza to make it all the way through the oven?

Thank you Wild About Preschool for letting us join the tour!
