Welcome to joy school for the 2011-2012 school year. We have a great group of kids this year! Meet Will, Zane, Stella, Lily, Amelia, Ella, and Bryn. Our first day was the 7th of September. Jenni, Amelia's mom, taught this week. Our first day back was so fun. This is what we did:

Circle Time: Pledge of Alligence, Days of the Week, Calendar, Weather, and Names

Letter: showed the kids a paper printed with 8 "f" words and they had to guess the letter. We learned about Daddy F, Baby f, the sound it makes, and each child had to make a big/little F on a magnetic board.

Shape: placed two circles and two ovals at the other end of the room. The kids raced two at a time to pick out the oval and bring it back. Ovals can look like circles when you are running fast!

Theme: Read Molly Lou Melon and talked about how we are all different and the same. While I traced life-sized body shapes on butcher paper the kids practiced tracing big and little F. Then the kids colored their body shapes. For those who finished coloring I had the kids use a fish pole to catch their name (with magnets).

Snack: made blue jello and stuffed swedish fish inside to look like an aquarium.
